How do I prepare this delicious Greek dessert?
To prepare this Greek Dessert, take a bowl and put in the melted butter, cocoa powder, icing sugar, salt and the grated zest of an orange. Mix all this together for a little over 1 minute until you have a smooth chocolate mass.
Break the biscuits into large pieces, do not make them too small otherwise they will become crumbly and that is not the intention. Add 50 grams of brandy or rum to the broken biscuits to taste, making sure the biscuit absorbs the liquor well.
Add the walnuts (or other nuts of your choice) to the broken biscuits and mix in. Add the chocolate mixture to the biscuits and mix together, being careful not to break the biscuits.
Shaping the chocolate mass
When everything is well mixed, place a piece of baking paper on the counter and empty the contents of the bowl onto it. Using the baking paper, roll the mixture into a round oblong shape. Twist the ends of the baking paper like a toffee paper. Lay cling film on the counter and roll the whole thing up as tightly as possible, so that it has the shape of a salami.
The chocolate mass is now in the baking paper and around this is cling film.
You can now put it in the fridge or freezer, depending on how you want the end result. If you want a mousse, then place it in the fridge. If you prefer a firmer cold structure, then place it in the freezer.
How long does it take before the Greek Chocolate Salami can be served?
After about 3 to 4 hours you can take the Greek Chocolate Salami out of the refrigerator or freezer. Cut it into nice equal pieces, sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy this ultimate Chocolate Dessert.
